SPINDALE, NC (October 14, 2026) – Fountain Electric has completed $3.25 million in electrical work on the Dr. Bobby F. England Health and Sciences Center, the new home for Isothermal Community College’s nursing and allied health programs.
The new 52,000-square-foot, three-story facility represents a $37 million total investment in healthcare education for the region. It is named for Dr. Bobby F. England, a longtime Rutherford County physician and former Isothermal trustee, and was built to give the next generation of healthcare workers a modern place to train close to home.
Community leaders and guests, including Dr. England, Congressman Tim Moore, State Representative Paul Scott, and local officials, gathered this week to celebrate the facility’s ribbon cutting.
The building brings healthcare simulation space, teaching labs, and classrooms together in one facility, replacing the college’s reliance on older, smaller spaces. The added capacity allows Isothermal to expand programs including nursing, EMT, and paramedic training, helping to fill workforce needs at hospitals and healthcare employers across the region.
Fountain Electric’s scope included power, lighting, and systems infrastructure that support the facility’s daily operations and instruction.
“This project had special meaning because it’s right here in our backyard,” said Fountain Electric Project Manager Doug Cabral. “Facilities like this one will provide a valuable service to our community for years to come, and we were happy to play a part in its construction. We’re grateful for the opportunity to work alongside the team from The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company and all our trade partners on this project. Our team worked tirelessly, and through their dedication and hard work, we were able to deliver the building on time and on budget.”
